“Treehouse of Horror” – A TV Review

From the time the Simpson’s became its own show I loved it! At the time it was just a cartoon, it wasn’t until I grew up I started to understand the brilliance behind the show. As much as I loved it there was a complete game changer for me.

October 25th, 1990 we were introduced to the very first Simpson’s Halloween Special titled “Treehouse of Horror”. It starts out with Marge coming out on a stage saying that the episode may be too scary for younger viewers. I’M IN! Are you kidding? Horror and cartoons together, BRING IT ON!

And so a time-honoured tradition was born. For years I was an avid Simpsons fan. Watching it EVERY DAY after school and then Sunday nights would be a brand new episode. As my comedic tastes started to change I watched less and less. One thing I have always made time for, “Treehouse of Horror”. Over the years they have had some really amazing segments and parodies of great horror films. Even though it’s been a minute since I’ve sat down and watched a full episode, I always make sure to watch the Halloween Special each year.

Sunday the latest episode dropped. “Treehouse of Horror XXVII”! You read that correctly. They are in season 28, and there wasn’t a Halloween Special in the first season. Another impressive feat is that it is episode 600 for them! It’s waiting for me on the PVR, I can’t wait to see what they have done this year.
