Slipknot – The Devil In I – New Music Video

Hey misfits,

So Slipknot is putting A LOT into their return. Their new single is out and you can check out the music video for it below. Now I like the video more than the song. I am trying really hard to get excited for this album. Slipknot used to be one of my favourite bands. I still love the old tracks, but I just find myself not impressed with the stuff they are putting out lately. Don’t get me wrong it’s better than most of the shit thats out there. And it could be that I’m into heavier stuff now then they play, but the first couple albums will always have a SIC place in my heart. But so far, the only thing I have liked is this video. And even then it’s mildly entertaining.

Here are my issues. The vocals are super hit or miss. If I wanted to listen to Stone Sour I would. Corey is a fucking awesome vocalist. But I want some hate fuelled rap metal lyrics. Not sing songy shit. Plys it’s been 6 years and they are hyping the shit out of this, but when it came down to the final reveal of their masks… it just left me scratching my head. Plus I still don’t know who the fucking drummer is. TELL US ALREADY!? Christ. There are rumours it could be Chris Adler from LOG or now I am hearing it could be Jay Weinberg, son of longtime Bruce Springsteen drummer Max Weinberg. But who knows yet. I heard the bassist might be the bass tech for Mastodon since you can see his tattoo in the video.

Both the bassist and the drummer will wear identical generic masks, that IMO look like Corey’s mask from the Subliminal VS era. I don’t know. It’s all messy to me. And I want Joey back in the band!! I know I’m not the only one. I’m a little tired of this “kick a guy out but we are going to stay the same band” bullshit anymore. If you are a founding member and you leave, change the fucking name or put the band to rest. You don’t want to end up like Throwdown and there’s been 40 fuckin’ dudes in the band, there hasn’t been an original member in like a decade. Just saying.

Sorry to rage out, I just want Slipknot to come back and burn the place down. And right now it’s too much hype and not enough delivery. I’m when the disc drops they can prove me wrong and make me eat my words.
